Eight smooth-water rowing clubs competed for the second Sudrabgārnis Cup, and BJSS “Rīdzene” won the most medals overall with 14 medalists.
In the overall ranking, the second most medal-rich performance was done by Limbaži/Salacgrivas NSS club with five medals, while the third in the overall ranking were Ventspils “Spars”, the Specialized rowing sports school MSĞ TSV SASS and Brocēni BJSS with two medalists each. Talsi NSS representative won one first place medal. On Saturday in the Sausā Daugava the weather was difficult, there was a gusty north wind, which required a lot of skills, especially from the youngest rowers.
Almost at every start, one of the rowers did not keep a balance and received help from the rescuers. However, most of the participants finished in a vigorous fight and after the start enjoyed the Waterfront Festival with the participation of a pantomime artist, jugglers and acrobats. The organizers thank the Ķekava Municipality and its Sports Agency, Ķekava Municipality Youth Initiative Centre and volunteers, as well as the Regional Municipality Police Department Ķekava for providing safety on the race track.
