For example, the banks of the Daugava River do not develop because there are concerns about pollution caused by tourists, there is no understanding of the legal framework on the part of construction boards (admin. barriers) and there is a lack of information about the possibilities for population-driven development. The society considers population-led development, which is rooted in public participation, to be a necessary element to initiate safe and well-maintained waterfront development throughout Latvia, to educate the society about waterfront communities and to achieve the understanding and support of municipalities to waterfront communities both in the form of funding for public initiatives and support for the maintenance of already landscaped areas.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\n\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\"  id=\"row-1809749531\">\n\n\n\t<div id=\"col-1017266959\" class=\"col medium-6 small-12 large-6\"  >\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-inner\"  >\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\n<div class=\"container section-title-container\" ><h4 class=\"section-title section-title-normal\"><b><\/b><span class=\"section-title-main\" >INVOLVEMENT OF THE PUBLIC<\/span><b><\/b><\/h4><\/div>\n\n<p>The Society \u201c\u016adensmalu att\u012bst\u012bbai\u201d(\u201cWaterfront Development\u201d) is a member of the Partnership \u201cDaugavkrasts\u201d Council. The partnership has established and maintains the \u0136ekava Municipality NGO Platform. Communities are formed by active citizen, who are encouraged by the \u201cDaugavkrasts\u201d Partnership to cooperate and to do networking in projects supported by the Active Citizens Fund.<\/p>\n<p>What do community folks have in common? Brand manager Lolita Ozoli\u0146a&#8217;s offer for \u0136ekava municipality is rooted in placemaking, so that it concerns equally to all residents of the municipality. The local community plays a crucial and essential role in the representation and reinvigoration of human local identity.
